FINAL THOUGHTS

I thoroughly enjoyed covering this season! Half of the photoshoots were terrible and the crop of girls wasn’t very strong, but for some reason, I kept wanting to update and I was really interested in seeing how the averages would pan out. I find it kind of hilarious how there were eight shoots this season, four of them were pretty good (lingerie, snakes and spiders, punk, and leopard) while the other four were absolute crap (smiling beauty, underwater, jumping, motorcycles). The pattern of two good shoots back to back then two bad ones made me lowkey giggle ngl, lol. While the photoshoots for this season were pretty damn bad overall, I really like how the elimination order went. The top four was very strong, and I truthfully would have been fine with any of them winning. At the end of it all, I do think the right model was crowned the very first winner of Germany’s Next Top Model. After the show, she made a rather big name for herself in the fashion industry, and I’m not sure if any other girl could have done as such. So yeah, at the end of everything, the season turned out to be pretty good! Sooo glad that I’m covering a season that ended with such a good winner especially after Ellen winning DNTM.

1) Janina (2.6) 1/5/3/1/3/2/3

This girl and her portfolio. <33 While this picture doesn’t exactly illustrate it, Janina was a beautiful girl with a fantastic body and really defined face. She had some of the best pictures of this season, and not one second did I doubt her potential and placement in the competition. Her underwater picture is up there as one of the all-time greats on GNTM. Besides that one individual photo, she had several other super strong pictures too. I lovedd her lingerie picture, as well as her punk and leopard bodypaint shots. She was definitely the blank canvas/chameleon of the season for me, and I was always excited to see what she would pull out of her ass in photoshoots each week. I’ve had Janina my winner of this season for such a long time, but after thinking about it some more, I feel like runner-up would have been the best placement for her. Lena was taller and had just as strong of a face as hers, so even though I prefer Janina’s portfolio overall, Lena winning was a very nice ending to the season. Plus, I doubt Janina would have obtained as much success as Lena did post-show. I really loved watching her progress throughout the season, though. She definitely left her mark on the series.

2) Lena G. (2.6) 3/9/2/2/2/1/1/1

Beautiful. Lena’s career after the show was clearly the best thing to come out of this season. After winning, she became the host of Austria’s Next Top Model, and now she has over a million followers on Instagram. While I do think becoming the host of AtNTM for a short time did help to elevate her career, she did work extremely hard as a model, and I’m glad that she found so much success. I don’t think she had the absolute best portfolio of the season, but she was really kicking it into the high gear towards the end of the season. Just look at her average! Six consecutive top two spots! That’s very impressive. She also received the most FCOs of the season, which is another really nice feat to have. Kind of shocked by that, but two of her FCOs were when she did the best of the worst – nothing THAT groundbreaking. Either way, she was a really strong competitor with a good body and an extremely bookable face. She’s definitely the cliche female look of Germany I feel, but she deserved the win. I mostly stand by her win because I do think she made the most of it post-show, not because she was the best of the season, because I don’t think she was. Check out the chick’s Insta, though – she looks even better than she did on the show! Damn.

3) Yvonne (3.0) 6/3/1/3/4/3/2/2

Hello Basic Lady~! I gotta admit – I’m kind of surprised Yvonne did this well for me. Many people think she’s super duper bland to the point where she should have been eliminated relatively early on in the competition, but I totally disagree with those individuals – a model can look super basic in person as long as they have the ability to transform in front of the camera, and Yvonne is that type of model. She didn’t have the best body, nor did she have the best face, but she certainly had a blank canvas look, and with the right makeup and styling, she really turned it out on several occasions. She only received one FCO from me the entire season for possibly the worst shoot of the season, but she consistently did well, in my opinion. I personally feel as though she deserved her spot in the final three – which is an unpopular opinion – though I would have preferred her being the second runner-up instead of the runner-up. And YES, I know that my personal final three features all blonde girls but oh well – they all performed very well this season, so I’m not going to apologize for the lack of diversity.

4) Jennifer (3.8) 7/1/4/6/1/4/4/3

I know I’ve crapped on this girl for producing many bad pictures (mostly towards the end of the season), but I absolutely adored her journey on the show. I loved her inconsistent portfolio which consisted of a few atrocious images as well as two of the strongest pictures of the season, because it always made me super excited to see what she would bring week after week. Her arc was very reminiscent to Monica’s from Greece’s Next Top Model cycle 1 (the very first season I covered on my blog). Her inconsistency wasn’t exactly THAT extreme to the point where she’d jump from FCO to my elimination vote back to back, but she’s far from being one of the more consistent models of the season. I do think her lows outweigh her highs for the most part, but I really don’t care – I thoroughly enjoyed her portfolio and her punk rock and snake picture are both STUNNING, gorgeous, etc. etc. At the right angle, with the right styling and lighting, she really slayed me. She’s many people’s favorite of the season, and I totally get it – she’s a very interesting girl; probably THE most interesting girl of the season. She deserves that feat, no doubt, but she has too many shit pictures to go any further than the top four for me even with that unique face, so I would cut her at the bikini jumping shoot.

5) Lena M. (4.0) 2/2/6/4/6

Another girl that I thoroughly enjoyed this season! Even though I totally agree with her elimination at the top six, she probably had one of the saddest eliminations for me. I hate that she started off extremely strong and then took a HUGE dip in the quality of her pictures after week two. I know she has a ton of potential to turn out stunning pictures, but unfortunately, she just stopped delivering great pictures after the snake/spider shoot. After her first two pictures, I was pretty certain that Lena knew her angles and how to position her body, but it’s almost like her knowledge of modeling lessened as the competition progressed. Pity. I wonder if she was sabotaged or was just in her head, because she really took a huge 180 from the pictures she was producing at first. She had so much versatility, too! She has such a skinny body, though can still serve it in a lingerie shoot. I love her narrow face – she’s a very gorgeous, editorial model. I’m glad she made a slight impact on the season.

6) Rahel (5.0) 4/6

EEEK, this is an extremeelyyy unfortunate promo picture. I was going to start of this write-up for Rahel explaining how she was robbed and should have made it further in the competition, but this promo picture REALLLY isn’t helping my case – it’s atrocious though hilarious. Eh, promo aside, I liked this girl. I thought she had one of the strongest bodies of the competition and she has a pretty decent face too. Her lingerie picture was pretty good and while her spider picture was weak, her elimination didn’t exactly seem justified to me. I thought there were weaker girls at that point and that Rahel had more to give. For those reasons, I’d probably bring her to the underwater shoot.

7) Luise (6.3) 5/8/5/7

This promo picture I both hate and love. Her face looks so weird in it, but I’m lowkey intrigued? Idk, weird. Anywhooo, I don’t really care for Luise. I’m not sure what to say in this final thoughts write-up about her because she left virtually no impact on me. Ig she was cute and all, but I don’t think she was much of a model and aside from her picture in week one, she didn’t really deliver strong images, which sucks because I hate girls who start off rather strong and then go downhill for the rest of the season. Ummm, there’s not really much more I have to say about Luise. She’s neither good or bad enough to write a complete paragraph about, llol. I’d eliminate her a week earlier than she was in the competition – during the smiling beauty shoot bc Micaela nor Charlotte would be there to save her from the bottom two.

8) Charlotte (6.6) 12/4/7/5/5

Charlotte wasn’t the worst model of the season, nor was I bothered an extreme amount for her making the top six, but she was probably the girl of the season who overstayed her welcome the most. I was by no means bothered by her presence in the competition to the point where I would call her out for robbing such and such, because truly, she didn’t – a lot of the eliminations this season were pretty deserved – but I don’t care for the photos she produced on the show whatsoever, and I find her look to be relatively bland and not the least bit interesting. I feel like this picture of her illustrates what I’m talking about perfectly – she looks tired and where are her defined cheekbones or strong jawline? Anything? Nope. Because there isn’t very much interesting about her physically. I don’t consider her a model, and she didn’t produce a single picture that I love. She sucked week one and remained in the middle to bottom the rest of the season. I’d cut her first alongside Micaela.

9) Céline (8.0) 8

I really feel like I overrated this girl during the first week. I still stand by that she has a pretty gorgeous face, but I don’t think she knew how to angle her face in order to create a perfect image, bar her face in week one’s group photo. She’s not outrageously, drop-dead stunning, but she’s still a really gorgeous girl and I do wish she didn’t quit the competition. I think she had the potential to go far. I wouldn’t take her THAT far, because I feel like her lingerie group photo was a fluke somewhat, but I’d take her to the top six still.

10) Micaela (8.7) 11/7/8

Muhhhhh. This ratty bitch. Nah, nah, I’m just kidding – I’m not that rude. Micaela wasn’t the worst thing ever that could have come onto Germany’s Next Top Model cycle one; heck, she’s probably better than more than a quarter of Denmark’s Next Top Model’s cycle two cast, but she was DRYYY. Her portfolio is a wreck. I suppose this promo shot of her is nice as is her snake/spider shot, but her look is so BORING. The best thing about Micaela is her post-show career. She’s one of Germany’s NTM’s alumnae – she became a DJing, showgirl, and part-time porn star. Not exactly a porn star, more like a nudity model, but the bitch clearly got THE biggest tits up for sale and flaunts them everywhere she goes. But, I mean, whatever gets you money, go for it. First out for me.

11) Anne (9.0) 9

Hey Karlie. Like I said during the lingerie shoot in the very first week, Anne’s look, for me, isn’t that exciting. Seeing Karlie Kloss being plastered everywhere including Taylor Swift’s ass turns me off of her look, and Anne looks pretty damn similar to Karlie Kloss. She’s pretty and all, yeah, and she does have a modelesque face somewhat, but I’m bored to death when looking at Anne. I would have brought her a week further in the competition, but I’m not that mad she was the first boot alongside Andrea. She just didn’t excite me.

12) Andrea (10.0) 10

Andrea, for me, is clearly the least memorable girl of the season. She lasted just as long as Anne did and wasn’t the absolute worst girl in terms of her face and body, but she left no lasting impact on me. At least with Anne, she reminded me of a 2006 version of Karlie Kloss. Andrea doesn’t remind me of any model, solely because her look isn’t fashionable. The fact she’s JUST 19 kind of scares me – she looks 24+ from this promo picture. Yeah, there’s truly not much more I can say about this gal; I don’t care about her in the slightest.

WEEK 8

Final week of the competition! Woo, so glad that this season didn’t take me 6 months to finish like Denmark’s Next Top Model Cycle 2 did, lol. Anywhooo, apparently the girls participated in two other shoots besides this one. A Cosmopolitan shoot and a shoot showcasing emotions? I couldn’t find either shoot anywhere, but I found this one, so I’m going to judge this shoot as if it’s the final shoot! It’s not a good shoot at all, but at least it’s something. Something is better than nothing after all. Despite the shoot being not-so-good, the final outcome of this season was fantastic! The winner totally deserved to win (sorry Janina), and the runner-up and second runner-up had deserving spots too (considering the final three, ofc). I’m excited to finish this season and do the final recap, so let’s get this done with~!

1) Lena G. (Winner)

Yas mawma. Totally deserved. I don’t care for this picture to the point where it’d end up on my top 15 pictures of the season, but I think considering the shoot and everything, this shot is very nice. She doesn’t look out of her element on that motorcycle. She looks edgy, she looks masculine yet feminine, and she’s giving a lot of intensity with her eyes and the rest of her face. There’s nothing outrageously special with her pose, it’s safe and cliche – kind of like last week – but it works. It’s easily the best pose of the week, and she definitely looks in control of the motorcycle she’s on. It’s a good picture.

2) Yvonne (Runner-up)

Nah. Second picture in and I’m already not feeling them. My biggest issue with this picture is the angle it was taken at. I think it was completely unfair to Yvonne that she was shot at an angle where she’d have to stand up in order for us to see the lower half of her body. The pose just looks a bit awkward and not very natural. Her face is an improvement to the pose somewhat, but her face is BLANK. With this type of photoshoot, just standing there looking at the camera isn’t going to cut it. She needed to give some attitude, look a little bit angry, like the stereotypical rider chick is, but she didn’t – her bland features shine through here.

3) Jennifer (Eliminated)

Yas Jennifer. Sitting on that motorcycle as if it’s just a regular seat. Her legs aren’t even directed towards the camera; they’re on the other side of the motorcycle? What a REBEL! I don’t entirely get it, but I don’t really get most of what Jennifer goes for in pictures. I do like how she’s holding the jacket and she is giving a rider chick attitude with that face, but I don’t really get anything from it. She looks drab. I’m bored. She doesn’t look like a model in the slightest and the hat is covering half of her face. Ya, uhm, I think it goes without saying, but I’m glad Jennifer didn’t go any further than third. Her arc is a MESS.

WEEK 7

Such a jank and depressing week. This shoot is definitely up there for worst photoshoot of the season. It’s absolutely terrible to be quite frank, and for a final four shoot, I’m SEVERELY disappointed by both this basic-ass, cheap concept and the extremely average execution. To make matters EVEN worse than they already are, this elimination SUCKED. This picture of her was a huge injustice, and clearly her worst picture on the show, but Goddamn it, I was really pulling for her to make it to the final two. At least when we had those two AWFUL smiling and underwater shoots back to back, we had relatively good eliminations. The shoot sucked AND the elimination sucked this week. I’m seriously getting some DNTM cycle 2 flashbacks here, lol.

1) Lena G.

Ewwwie at this being the FCO of the week. It’s not bad for such a shitty concept, but at least when they did that smiling beauty and underwater shoots there was at least one really solid image, because this here is just PAINFULLY basic. It’s one of Lena’s worst pictures on the show, yet it earned her her second FCO for me. Go figure! For this type of photoshoot, the flamingo-esque pose is clearly a very cliche and safe option to go with, buttt considering the overall execution for this week, safe just so happens to earn you a FCO. I will give it to her that she does have a fabulous pair of legs, though, and you can definitely tell she takes the time to workout and make her body look fit, so all in all, I’m at peace with how this picture turned out even if it’s extremely bland.

2) Yvonne

I keep zooming in on Yvonne’s face in this shot hoping to see it more clearly because it really doesn’t look that good all blurry and small, but all I can make out is a smile or snarl, I’m not sure which. Lena’s face looks cutesy somewhat all blurry, but Yvonne’s looks rather unfortunate, so that’s why I felt the need to point that out even if I can’t see it all that well. As far as Yvonne’s pose goes, I like it. It’s not really an original pose, but her body looks alright for the most part. Her stomach could look slightly more toned than it does here, but her legs look decent and I like how she placed her hand on her hip as well as how her hair looks in the wind. I’m not complaining. The girl is really beginning to fade into the background, though, ngl.

3) Janina (Eliminated)

Janina. </3 My baby. Did they sabotage you, bbg? .. I’m SO disappointed to see Janina go. She’s been so consistent in this competition, and her portfolio definitely deserves a final two spot for me, but Jesus Christ – could they not find a picture where her stomach legit looks like it’s about to burst. There’s so much tension in her face and neck and then her stomach literally looks pregnant – I’m not sure what they saw in this picture. I’m sure she had at least ONE picture where her stomach wasn’t this huge. While she’s only 5’8”, she probably had the strongest overall body of the final four, and the fact that this picture doesn’t showcase how awesome it is really irks me. She really shouldn’t have been eliminated right before the finale.. Such a devastation.

4) Jennifer

Heyyyyy Jennifer, weren’t you down here just last week? Oh yeah, you were!! I know Jennifer has two reallllly good pictures (her snake beauty shot and her punk rock shot), but this girl SUCKS when she is bad. Her pose this week is so freaking unfortunate. I’m not sure WHY or HOW she thought spreading her legs wide open with her hands on her hips was a good idea, but the girl is doing it – she’s pulling a Lisa D’Amato. Besides the jank pose, Jennifer’s body really doesn’t look that good here. Her proportions look piss poor. She has love handles for days. She isn’t fat whatsoever, but for a model who wants to be a normal-sized model and not a plussie, the girl really needs to do some more mountain climbers or deadlifts. Something.

WEEK 6

It’s crazy how it’s just week six and we’re already at the final four. This season has been going so fast. I’m really happy with how the season has been panning out. A couple of bs eliminations, but at the end of it all – this final four is fantastic. I agree with each and every one of them making it to the final four. I’m glad that, at the end of this shoot, none of the girls were eliminated because of that sole reason – all the girls are so good! The girl with my elimination vote for this week has a terrible picture, but the other three are amazing. The photoshoot itself looks semi-cheap ngl, and the random lightbulb in the background of each of the shots is … well, random, but I like the shoot for the most part. The bodypaint isn’t applied THAT great, but I’m a sucker for these types of shoots, so I’m excited to critique each of them!

1) Lena G.

#Snatched. Lena G. FINALLY snatched a first call-out from me. I’m sure many are going to think this is a long overdue first call-out for her, but WOW, what a stunning picture to get a FCO with! It’s truly a killer shot. She looks soooo sexy with long hair. This picture realllly proves that the judges shouldn’t have cut her hair in week two; they should have given her some hair extensions instead! She looks drop dead gorgeous with those long, golden locks. The blowing of the hair, the shape she created with her body, the way she’s touching her legs – I’m obsessed, she just looks so sexy. I love every single thing about this picture, bar the lightbulb ofc bc wtf. She looks really good. She maintained looking like a model whilst giving us so much sex appeal – AMAZING job.

2) Janina

Another BEAUTIFUL image. I always had Lena G. as my FCO for this week, but Janina has been RIGHT behind her ass for as long as I can remember. Just like Lena, Janina’s sexiness definitely comes through in this image. I don’t think she wears the smokey eye nearly as good as Lena does, but that face of Janina’s is really gorgeous. I love that she maintained a very editorial appeal while still delivering so much sexiness, facially. I really dig how she’s looking at the camera, and the way her hair is subtly touching her neck and shoulder looks awesome. The shape of her body always look fantastic. She really does have such a beautiful body. I lowkey wish she didn’t put her left arm in front of her torso so I could see more of it, but the animalistic looking pose does help elevate the picture as a whole too. Lovely picture!

3) Yvonne

BODY! BODY! BODY! WOAH!!! I had no idea Yvonne’s body was THIS amazing. DEFINITELY the best pose of the week. She’s booty tooching for ha’ life – Mama Tyra would be so pleased. The fact her ass looks so large yet her waist looks really small is super impressive. She twisted her body at the PERFECT angle. The pose not only makes her body look freaking perfect, but it works amazingly well for the brief. While that pose is slayful and her body looks outrageously good, that face gurrrrl – it’s BLAND. She looks very insecure and not confident whatsoever. The expression as well as her hair being parted on half of her face really makes it seem like she has ZERO confidence. It’s so strange, because there’s so much power and assertiveness in that pose. Such a perfect example of a model’s expression screwing up an entire image’s feel.

4) Jennifer

Jennifer… Really girl? I don’t get her AT ALL. She turned it tf out the week prior, serving SOOOO much sex appeal while still looking like a model, yet this week she looks like a busted prostitute. I’m so confused. How does that even happen? I feel like it might be that being sexy comes rather easy for her, so when the brief is a nude, bodypaint shoot, she feels the need to push it to the next degree making her look pornographic.?? Idk, but this is really bad. She looks like a porno model who has a fetish with animals, which is why it looks like she’s humping a shit ton of fur below her while being covered in animal body paint. Disgusting. The face REALLY makes me laugh my ass off, though. It’s TRULY iconic. She’s clearly trying WAYYY too her to look sexy when she really didn’t need to.

WEEK 5

At last, a photoshoot that I like! I don’t think this photoshoot is in the top three of shoots for this season, but I’m just glad that it doesn’t completely suck, like the two before. I really love punk fashion, and the stylings for the week were really solid overall. Some of these pictures are really good, too, so yippee for that, considering we saw JUST two “great” pictures in the two weeks prior. My only critiques for the shoot would be that, while the clothing is on point this week, I think the hairstyles could have been slightly better. Also, the backdrop for the shoot looks really weird. I don’t care for the location they shot the shoot at. After the photoshoot, two girls were eliminated, and I gotta say – damn! Germany’s NTM is really starting to get their elimination order correct for this season. This top four is really strong, and I think that all of them deserve their spots!

1) Jennifer

WOW! When this girl does well, she legit goes in for the kill. I really can’t stop looking at this picture. Her body is slaying me, her face is absolutely gorgeous, and she’s serving such a sexy attitude. I recall saying that her look wasn’t very sexy in week one for the lingerie shoot, but I’m really starting to think otherwise – she might just be theee sexiest girl of the season! I adore those boots and how she’s wearing them is perfect. I love her stance, as well as how she stretched her body out to elongate herself. The way her hair hits her face is also outrageously gorgeous. She has cheekbones for days, and I’m truly living for how freaking stunning her features appear here. Having said all that, this girl NEEDS to work on that consistency. Like, DAMN, she’s all over the place.

2) Lena G.

Runner-up for the third week in a row. I originally had Lena G. ranked below Janina up until like fifteen minutes ago, lol, but I’m really starting to dig this picture, tbh! I don’t think it’s nearly as good as Jennifer’s, but I still really like this photograph. I think what I like most about this picture of Lena is how she kept it simple for this challenge. With such a drastic styling, going with a more complex pose (sorta like what some of the girls did below Lena) isn’t the right way to go. Lena did it right with the pose. She looks sexy and powerful. She wears the clothing beautifully; the clothes don’t wear her, so kudos to her for that too. The exceptionally spikey, messy hair irks me somewhat and I do think the face could have just a tad bit more intensity, but this is a fantastic picture nevertheless.

3) Janina

Another picture that I thoroughly enjoy! It’s so nice to see more than two pictures I like in one week, lol. Like I said in Lena G.’s critique for this week, Lena and Janina’s pictures are pretty equal to one another in terms of quality. The poses and expressions are so different from one another, but I ultimately chose Lena’s over Janina’s because of her less extreme pose. I don’t mind how posed Janina is this week, but it kindaa looks forced in comparison to the two pictures above. Her look isn’t nearly as edgy as Lena’s, so of course this shoot was going to require her to work a little bit harder, but I personally prefer simplicity in poses. That face, however, is totally on point. I’ve noticed that Janina changes her expressions and angles practically every week, and I gotta give her credit for that. She’s very versatile!

4) Yvonne

The quality in photos takes a relatively large dip in quality after the three super strong pictures above, but I’m still pleased with this outcome from Yvonne. While it’s definitely not one of her best pictures on the show, I think it’s still alright. Even though that hair doesn’t necessarily look good in this picture, I do give her credit for trying to make the picture semi-interesting by flipping her hair. The hair certainly helps distract me from the dullness of her expression. It’s not bad, but there’s a lot of life missing from her expression. I’m not impressed by it, and her bland features are very evident here. I’m not really the biggest fan of the pose either – I like the turning of the body, but too much of her ass is showing. I do really like how she pointed her index finger at the ground like that, though.

5) Charlotte (Eliminated)

I take back what I said last week about Charlotte’s underwater picture being the second best shot of her portfolio on the show – this is a lot better. It’s not as good as her spider picture, but for Charlotte, this is a huge step up from what she normally delivers. I do think Charlotte’s pose for this week is super interesting. The concept is nice and I think she executed it well also, but the pose just doesn’t work with the given brief. The pose and the afro makes me think of a disco party or something, so that plus the punk rock outfit styling confuses the hell out of me. The face is quirky and different, but again – the attitude doesn’t work for this photoshoot. This picture doesn’t have the edgy appeal that the other pictures have for the week, so her elimination was definitely deserved.

6) Lena M. (Eliminated)

:// I hate seeing Lena M. go out on such a shit picture because her portfolio started off super strong, but this is AWFUL. I really, really can’t stand this picture. I love the psychedelic, bold colors of the top piece Lena is wearing, and I think the hairstyle she received was one of the best ones of the week, but that face DESTROYS everything good about this picture for me. It’s way, way, way too harsh. She looks like a frightened drag queen. I absolutely hate how she has her mouth opened, I hate the flared nostrils, and the fact she’s making absolutely zero connection with the camera also irks me. Her long, narrow face definitely does not look appealing here. I do like her pose. There’s a lot of strength in it, but this picture isn’t good solely because her face looks terrible in it. I agree with her cut, unfortunately..

WEEK 4

Blah, blah, blah. Like I said in the previous post, this shoot and the one prior isn’t/wasn’t good. I think the concept and execution for this week’s shoot is more superior than the one before it, but I really don’t care for underwater shoots, and this one is one of the weakest – if not, the weakest – I’ve covered on my blog. Strangely enough, this shoot did produce one of the strongest Top Model underwater shots in the history of the series. In terms of the elimination this week, I didn’t mind it and thought it was deserved. She was the second weakest girl of the competition when she was eliminated, but did have the overall weakest shot of the week so idrc. Let’s get this done with, so we can finally get back to the better shoots of this season~!

1) Janina

This is such an iconic image. Probably one of the first images that come to mind when I think of Germany’s Next Top Model – that’s how iconic it is. It’s definitely up there for one of my all-time favorite underwater pictures. With that being said, this almost looks TOO good to be an underwater picture. I mean, the quality of this picture is so much better than the other shots for this week, and where the hell are the bubbles? She has her mouth open yet there are no bubbles. This picture clearly got more touch-ups than the other shots this week, but I seriously don’t give a shit. This is a beautiful image either way. The shape she created with her body while maintaining the length of her torso and legs is crazy. I love the light, soft color contrast, and her face looks stunning. BY FAR the best picture of the week. She has zero competition for that title.

2) Lena G.

Lena G.’s picture is probably four or five times worse than Janina’s, but considering this is an underwater shoot and everything, I wouldn’t go to say it’s necessarily bad. It looks bad in comparison, awful even, but when you don’t look at it side by side with Janina’s, there are a few things Lena did right here. For instance, the pose is really good. I like the idea she was going for by putting her arms right next to her torso like that, but I somewhat wish her arms were even more parallel to the rest of her body. Her right arm is positioned nearly perfectly, though. The face is probably my main issue with this, but I don’t think it’s that horrible. The lighting on her face just looks too severe. She looks TOO white and it highlights her hair making her look somewhat aged. She doesn’t have that great of a profile either, but it’s alright overall.

3) Yvonne

Eh, another rather large dip in quality, but not outrageously bad yet, fortunately. The quality of the picture makes it so you can’t exactly see Yvonne’s face, but I think the overall composition of this picture saves it from the blurry expression. I’m not really sure whether she has her eyes closed or if she’s just wearing eyeshadow, but the overall vibe I’m receiving from her face is kinda dead. I will say that I really love the contrast of colors present in this image. The background is a light blue and she’s wearing generally darker colors, which I think is visually pleasing. The brown, red, and black colors of her hair, outfit, and eyes is a really nice combo too. The pose isn’t anything special, but I like how the huge necklace is floating in the water, and her hair looks fantastic. The image could have been much stronger, but I’m not complaining.

4) Lena M.

Definitely a step up for Lena from last week, but I’m still really disappointed by this. I hate the fact that we’ll never see a shot from her nearly as good as her spider or lingerie pictures. I don’t think Lena’s face looks very good here, especially considering what strong of a face she does have, but the bold colors present in this image really help to elevate it for me. A bold color of yellow with a light blue backdrop looks amazing together. Lena, herself, doesn’t do it for me, but it’s not like her face is absolutely terrible. It’s certainly not as bad as her face last week, but her cheeks look pretty damn chubby and I don’t like how her eyes look. The lack of emotion with her facial expression topped with the staring of her eyes doesn’t look good – it’s weird.

5) Charlotte

I don’t like this. It’s pretty sad that this is actually Charlotte’s second best picture on the show (for my, at least). She really doesn’t know how to angle her face properly at the camera, and her expressions are always super dull. I don’t like how dead her eyes appear in this picture, nor do I care for the lack of neck or how her hair lays on her head. The way the hair is parted takes up too much of her face for me. I guess she looks pretty somewhat, but this is definitely the least memorable picture of the week, and the very last thing this picture is, is exciting. The girl simply isn’t a model and gots to go asap.

6) Jennifer

It sucks to see Jennifer turn out such bad pictures, because I know she has it in her to take much stronger images than this, but I think it’s quite obvious that Jennifer’s look is very much a hit or miss, and clearly this week she was a miss, facially. While I do like the flowing of the green fabric and her hair, Jennifer’s face looks a bit too elongated for my liking here. That and the combination of all those bubbles in front of her face as well as the dead expression doesn’t make Jennifer’s face or features look that interesting or pretty. She looks kinda ugly here, and for such a pretty girl, it sucks to see her like this. I do think if this picture showed more of her body or simply the rest of her left arm, it would have helped the picture massively.

7) Luise (Eliminated)

Derp derp. Ya, I’m really not feeling this picture. It’s not like.. as bad as Micaela’s picture last week, but for a picture that receives my elimination vote, this is still pretty bad. This close-up of Luise’s face is just not attractive. There’s such a disconnect between her and the audience – it’s as if she’s looking at something behind the camera. I don’t like how her nose looks and her lips make it seem as though she tasted something really sour. I also don’t care for how it looks like her hairline is receding, and that eyeshadow isn’t very appealing. The face is a mess, but the part of her body that is shown here also doesn’t look good. Her neck looks thick, and there’s such little definition with her chin but too much definition at her armpit. It’s weird how the picture comes together. A deserved elimination, for sure.

WEEK 3

The first two photoshoots of this seeason were surprisingly really good, but the fall in quality was bound to happen, and unfortunately, it happened sooner than I wish it would have. This photoshoot and the next shoot for week four really suck. I’m not going to sugarcoat a damn thing – they suck ass to be quite frank. Between the two shoots, there are like two or three great images produced. For this week, the models all are smiling with huge ass teethy grins on their faces and absolutely no makeup or photoshop (I assume). I’m not a fan of shoots were the models have no say on how they pose or express their faces, like that ballerina shoot for some other Top Model franchise that I can’t remember, but I’m sure someone reading this gets that reference. The only good thing to come out of this week was easily the elimination. Thank God she’s gone. Her picture is disgusting. In conclusion, bar the elimination, this week was total shit.

1) Yvonne

Lmao, I love how this is my FCO for the week. The picture is extremely bland and by no means a fashion image, but somehow it’s the best photo of the week for me and many others. The thing that most won Yvonne FCO from me is that her smile actually looks legit. She doesn’t look like she’s faking it unlike many of the girls this week. Plus, she looks very youthful and pretty. Her cheeks look relatively chubby, and her cheekbones are essentially nonexistent, but those lips are so big and plump – definitely my very favorite thing about this picture. I also really appreciate the fact she doesn’t have jank ass teeth. It’s a cute image but overall it’s very.. meh.

2) Lena G.

Yeah, the quality just dropped from decent to muh. This picture on a good week for GNTM would most likely be in my bottom two or my elimination vote, but yet here it is as my SCO. Despite Lena holding my runner-up position for this week, there still is a lot of things wrong with this picture. The smile isn’t even remotely convincing. It’s actually one of the least convincing smiles of the bunch, but I don’t necessarily think of her smile as being bad. The biggest problem with this picture for me would be Lena’s eyebrows. She didn’t move them while smiling which is why it looks like her smile isn’t real. Also, those eyebrows are just BAD. She needs to get those things threaded ASAP (hopefully, she has by now lol). Aside from the not very convincing smile, I do think Lena looks pretty here, but yikes – just two pictures in and I’m already over the execution for this week.

3) Janina

I think Janina’s smile this week was probably the second most convincing after Yvonne’s, but I don’t think this is a very good picture. She looks like Shannon Stewart (from ANTM) here. Shannon’s a very beautiful woman, but she clearly looks older than she does, more so on cycle 1, of course. While Janina’s smile isn’t nearly as gum-y as Shannon’s, there’s one too many wrinkles present on her face here. She looks like she has crow’s feet and the wrinkles beside her mouth are far too defined for such a youthful girl. She looks like a REALLY good 35 with all those wrinkles. She’s got some really nice teeth, though – I will give her that.

4) Jennifer

This is about where the pictures begin to take an even derpier turn in quality. Jennifer’s face, like I said in week one, isn’t commercial, and clearly she doesn’t look very good here, but somehow she’s ranked directly in the middle for me this week. Truly, what saves Jennifer from being ranked any lower than this is the fact that the other pictures are worse than hers. It’s really nothing Jennifer did right that helped save her from being ranked lower – it’s what she didn’t do wrong that saved her. The only justice this picture does for Jen is that it allows for her to showcase her fantastic skin. But outside of that, it’d truly be the largest reach for me to call anything else about this photo good. The smile clearly doesn’t look real, neither her nose or teeth look all that great here, and this image lacks a feminine feel to it in which all the pictures needed for this week, in my opinion, considering this is such a commercial photoshoot.

5) Luise

Luise’s shot this week is the very last shot that I don’t absolutely hate. Everything after this is simply shit. I don’t think Luise looks all that bad here, but there’s nothing about this picture that I find memorable even in the slightest. It doesn’t have anything heinous to make it memorable, nor does it have anything good about it. It kinda looks like a high school students’ student ID picture. The smile looks pretty forced, and the slanted grin I’m not a fan of at all. Also, something about her expression makes me think that she’s holding in a sneeze. It’s probably the squinty eyes, but all in all, this isn’t a pleasant picture. This picture leaves absolutely no impact on me, therefore I seriously don’t care about it.

6) Lena M.

Yikes. Lena took an already OTT concept to another degree of extra. First of all, her smile is simply UGLY. While I do give her credit for at least having a real-looking smile and not faking it, she took it even farther than the given theme at hand and doesn’t look appealing. She looks like she’s in her early to mid thirties; there’s nothing youthful about this picture. She has Janina’s wrinkles with Jennifer’s head angle and Luise’s student ID-like smile. It’s not modelesque whatsoever. I don’t know HOW this makes its way outside of my bottom two but it does – what a MESS of a week.

7) Charlotte

“Ayeeee”. I don’t know why, but when I look at this picture, I instantly feel as though Charlotte is saying that in a very trolling and lulzy matter while smiling for the camera. Of course this picture is absolute shit. I don’t think anyone would argue me on that. This just isn’t a fashionable, modelesque shot. The fact this picture is even worse than what you’d find in a high school yearbook of REGULAR people is hysterical to me. But the fact this isn’t even the worst picture of the week is even more hilarious. I said it in the previous post, but I’ll say it again – what a MESSSSSSS! This week sucks ass.

8) Micaela (Eliminated)

BYE!!!!! I really couldn’t be happier to see this girl go. She clearly had the worst picture of the week – which says something in itself – and really wasn’t serving it in photographs. The really cheesy, fake-ass smile with the neck wrinkles and pencil thin eyebrows, topped off with the terrible, awful, horrendous skin makes this picture one of the worsts I’ve ever seen on any Top Model show. That really does say something, but I’m not going to hold back how I feel about this picture. It really sucks. I will give it to her that the lighting in her picture is leaps and bounds the worst of the week which did help to make her skin look even worse than it does, but come tf on. If you’re going to go on a modeling show, the least you could do is MOISTURIZE. She legit looks like she’s going through puberty. WTF.
